Description
Many developers cite either a shortage of labor or high labor costs as the main reason why their projects won't pencil out and can't get off the ground. As baby boomers are retiring, there is a growing concern among the skilled labor unions about the low number of new tradesmen. Hear from Giuseppe Muzzupappa, assistant director of NECA, Northeastern IL Chapter, Dan Allen, executive director of CISCO, and Elbert Waters, Director of Powering Chicago about the future of labor unions and skilled labor. During this webinar we will discuss: --What factors are contributing to the labor shortages in Chicago, and will they get worse? --As baby boomers start to reach retirement, will there be enough skilled trade workers to meet future demand needs? --College is often presented as the only viable option for high school graduates. How can trade schools promote themselves to high school students? --What will the role of unions be as a pool for labor, and as negotiating entities? --Labor unions don't always have a positive public image. What can be done to shift public opinion?
